Reading Women FC boss Kelly Chambers has strengthened her forward line for the FA WSL 1 spring series with the addition of Sunderland Ladies attacking midfielder Brooke Chaplen.
Chaplen is the second Black Cats player to join the Royals after Rachel Furness joined in the last week.
A free agent after her Sunderland contract expired at the end of the season, Chaplen has also played for Chelsea where she was in the same side as Reading full back Becky Jane.
Chaplen has represented England at U19s, U20s and U23s levels and prior to moving to the North East had spent five years at Everton Ladies where she won the 2010 Women’s FA Cup.

Chambers said of her new signing: “I have always liked Brooke as a player even back when she was a youngster playing at Portsmouth. Brooke is a really exciting addition to my squad and I’m excited to start working with her. She is a goal scoring midfield player who definitely adds to my attacking options and fits well into our style of play”.
