It seems Mia Cruickshank looks set to follow in the footsteps of Maz Pacheco as she has reportedly joined West Ham United Women.

Always a good barometer of such things, the young defender has changed her Twitter bio to ‘West Ham United’ as well and liked a series of tweets referring to the Hammers, while the Royals fan account @RFCWfans has bid her farewell.

There was no indication at the end of the cancelled season that Cruickshank was on the list of players to leave the club, but it’s likely she’ll be keen to get some first team minutes and with the arrival of Emma Mitchell and Deanna Cooper, as well as academy captain Kiera Skeels and Lily Woodham making the step up.

There doesn’t appear to be any official statements from either club at present but her social media activity suggests it’s a done deal, as well as the distinct lack of her profile on the Reading team page.

Mia, a defender, no doubt has a bright future ahead of her having made it through the ranks of the academy at Reading. She made her first-team debut in November on Women’s Football Weekend at the Madejski Stadium. The Royals took on Bristol City in a 6 goal thriller which saw the game end 3-3.

She has featured consistently for the England U17 squad having played against Azerbaijan, Iceland, France, USA, Georgia and Greece in the last two years.

Royals out of contract, Millie Farrow, Jo Potter, Sophie Howard, Maxime Bennink, Remi Allen and Charlie Estcourt are still yet to confirm their plans for the season ahead.
